The Massage Therapy Foundation (MTF) is a 501(c)3 organization founded in 1990 by the American Massage Therapy Association. Our mission is to advance the knowledge and practice of massage therapy by supporting scientific research, education, and community service. With a deep commitment to philanthropy, we strive to increase the understanding and appreciation of massage therapy, while fostering collaboration and credibility within the massage therapy profession.

Our History

The Massage Therapy Foundation was founded in 1990 by the American Massage Therapy Association with the mission of advancing the knowledge and practice of massage therapy. Since then, we have provided over $1 million in research grants, published an open-access, peer-reviewed scientific journal, and provided numerous educational resources for massage therapists, educators, and students.
