Neither my husband nor myself have family in the area so we knew we wanted a doula to help us the first few weeks while I recovered and we learned how to raise a baby.
Zainab was perfect! She was reliable, communicative and knowledgeable. She showed my husband and I how to do things such as swaddling, baby wearing, nail trimming and bathing.
In addition to showing us all things baby related she was an open book of baby knowledge including everything from skin care to milestones.
As a human she was wonderful to work with and her cooking is amazing.
Finally, she was so meticulous and took such good care of our baby, we knew we could count on her for helping with chores such as washing bottles or folding laundry and for watching the baby while we slept in, took showers, or just relaxed.
Would absolutely work with Zainab again — she is amazing, we love her and so does our baby
We had previously hired a postpartum doula for overnight support with a different company and she was unexpectedly out for two weeks. We knew we needed the night support (two nights a week), and found The Womb Room through Google.
From the beginning, Sunni was warm and open about their process. She connected us with Christin, who was able to support us just four days after we initially found The Womb Room.
Christin was a calming presence in our home and our two month old, Lucy, immediately took to her. From the beginning of our two weeks working with Christin, Lucy was sleeping longer stretches and was calmer. Christin was kind, knowledgeable, and professional. I appreciated how quickly she was able to integrate into our routine and I felt extremely confident with her caring for our daughter overnight so I could get some sleep. She was able to honor our breastfeeding journey and bring Lucy to me when she needed to be fed, as well.
I honestly wish we had found The Womb Room sooner and hired them for the entirety of our postpartum support. I would highly recommend them to any family looking for support as they move into postpartum.
My husband and I are first time parents and we decided to contact the womb room and eventually hired Shannon as our doula. Even though we got in touch with Shannon a few weeks prior to our due date; from the first time we met her through zoom she brought such warmth, knowledge and reassurance to out last few weeks of pregnancy.
I went into labor a week prior to my due date and as a result, both my husband and I felt a bit rushed and unprepared, but Shannon's gentle guidance made us feel supported, heard and truly cared for. During labor Shannon was incredible. She created such a peaceful ambiance inside our delivery room and provided comfort techniques, encouragements and attended to all my needs. I felt empowered and safe knowing she was by my side. Even after birth, her check-ins and at home visit helped us navigate some of the challenges we faced as first time parents.
I am still in awe and touched by the care I received from Shannon. She has a true passion for this work and both my husband and I are extremely grateful she was part of our birth journey.
If you are unsure about hiring a doula please consider this as a sign to get one. If you're looking for someone compassionate and wholeheartedly dedicated, Shannon is the one.
Every person we’ve met at the womb room for classes, groups, yoga and massage (Erik) have all been wonderful! The community, safe space, and support this place provides is amazing and very needed. We felt welcomed and educated the whole time.
I also took the "Pelvic Floor Mechanics" workshop with Brielle and Dr. Joy, and I can't believe it's not standard for all birthing people! I learned so much valuable information about labor and delivery and how to help it along naturally.
My only suggestion is to more regularly include pronouns and non-femme language, since not every birthing person is a woman.
