Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that you may have questions about our services or the benefits of massage therapy. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions:

  • What is the difference between therapeutic massage and clinical/medical massage? Therapeutic or "Spa" Massage is usually a head-to-toe Swedish Massage, while medical massage concentrates on specific soft tissue problem areas and gets to the root of the cause.
  • When should I not receive a massage? Please do not schedule a massage if you have any symptoms of a cold, including head stuffiness, runny nose, watery eyes, or a fever. Also, avoid scheduling a massage if you have any skin irritations such as a rash, open cuts, burns, poison Ivy, or sunburn.
  • How much water should I consume after a massage? To determine how much you need, take your body weight and divide it in half; this gives you your body's daily requirement of water in ounces.
  • What ages benefit from massage? Age is not a factor; our therapist is trained to work with people of all ages. If you suffer from chronic problems or have had a recent injury, massage can help.
  • What should I wear for my massage appointment? You are asked to remove clothing related to the specific area being treated. You should remove only what you are comfortable removing, (Always leaving your under garments on). Protecting your modesty comes first.
  • Why should I drink water after a massage? Any massage releases toxins from the body. If these toxins are not flushed out of your system, this can cause symptoms such as headaches and or nausea. If these toxins are not flushed out of the body, the toxins can also return to problem areas and reverse the benefit of the massage.
